Farewell My Friend is an end-of-life veterinary care and aftercare center in Lisbon, Maine. We welcome pets and the people who love them into a private, home-like setting designed for comfort, connection, and time together.

Dr. Amy Ruksznis
Owner, Founder, and Veterinarian
Dr. Amy Ruksznis founded Farewell My Friend with a vision for a different kind of end-of-life veterinary experience, one centered around comfort, privacy, and time together. Her approach to care is thoughtful and deeply personal, helping families navigate difficult decisions while ensuring each pet is treated with gentleness and dignity.
Eleanor Soule, MBA
Director, and End of Life Pet Doula
Eleanor oversees the day-to-day experience at Farewell My Friend, helping families feel supported from their first contact through aftercare. She works closely with Dr. Ruksznis to ensure that every detail, from the spaces families spend time in to the personalized touches that make each goodbye unique, reflects the care and intention behind Farewell My Friend.

Farewell My Friend is a place for pets and the people who love them during one of the most difficult parts of sharing a life together. From the time and privacy given to each family to the thoughtful details that make each experience personal, everything we do is centered around providing comfort, support, and compassionate care.

As a veterinarian, Dr. Amy Ruksznis saw how meaningful the end-of-life experience could be, and how traditional veterinary settings don't always allow for the time, privacy, or comfort that families and their pets deserve.
Farewell My Friend grew from her vision for something different: a place created entirely around this moment. A place where pets can be surrounded by the people they love, families are given time to simply be together, and every goodbye can unfold with privacy, compassion, and care.
From our home-like environment to the personalized details of each appointment, every part of Farewell My Friend has been created with intention to make an incredibly difficult experience a little gentler for pets and the people who love them.
